When we say about the indian freedom struggle, the first names that come in our minds is mahatma gandhi, nehru, gokhale etc.But there were some great revolutionaries who fought ferociously for our country who most of you may not remember. You may remember their names, thanks to 'social studies' text books in our lower classes.Bhagat singh,Chandra shekhar azad,Ashfaqullah khan,Sukhdev,Rajguru....these were the names which terrorised the british officials that time. There is lot more names to that list. These young guns of india started to question the gandhian way of freedom struggle and started the parallel movement, that was the real struggle for freedom. They urged for complete freedom and they didnt preach for it but revolted with patriotism as energy. But none of them were really honoured or recognised after the independence was acheived. It was a well planned strategy of congress not to hilight the involvement or impact of extremists in the freedom fight.Becuase congress were well aware of the fact that the extemism may transform into a new version called marxism which may be a threat to them in a democratic system.so they made a feel among people that it was the congress under gandhiji bring down the british emporer and they consiously gulped the extrmist part.Congress, for an extra impact posted gandhi as the father of the nation and added a 'gandhi' tail to nehru family.Nehru family till date get votes becuase of that gandhi 'attachment' to their names.Congress became the single major party in india post independence cashing on the gandhi sentemence.
Over the years the memories of extrmists were faded away from peoples mind, every year gandhijayanti is celebrated,no one even care to remember about our real warriors of freedom.the instict to struggle or protest against social injustice or corruption is decreasing with each generation.becuase the children of our country are brought up in that manner.our children are not allowed to see the world around them, they are not seeing the poor, the beggars, the prostitutes, child labours.they are only seeing computers, internet, poshe cars around them.they are always policed by someone ,some one is always giuding them without showing the real life, the harsh side of life. And after they step into their adulthood, coming out of that guidence mould they will be a completely self centered person. They wont have the time to see the hapless fellow beings around him.
A recent film 'rang de basanti' showed how a bunch of youngsters who took life as a joke turned to seek revenge for their friend's death. The film compared these youngsters as our old heroes bhagath, azad, asfaqullah khan etc to show that each one of us has that same blood of those legendary revolutionaries who died for their country.so its time to realize the spark of rebellion within us,break all the shackles ,think free, fight for justice and equality.LONG LIVE REVOLUTION
